Civil assotiation Cantilena with the cooperation of Senica City cultural centre, Senica city and the choir Cantilena realizes „International festivals of choral singing“ in Senica and Šaštín In Senica it took place in 1994, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012 in Šaštín in 2006 , 2008, 2010 and 2012. International festival in Senica is realized as a memorial to Jozef Poto?ár and usually takes place every two years in venue of Senica City cultural centre. Repertoir is focused on compositions of profane character. International festival in Šaštín takes place in Our Lady of Sorrow Basilica. Repertoir is explicitly focused on compositions of sacral character. The festival is attended by choirs from Slovakia and abroad, who are invited by leadership of civil assotiation (after sending an application and after fulfillment of requested criteria). International festival takes three days.
The first day – Friday: arrival to Senica during evening hours until 9 p.m. (presentation, dinner, accomodation)
Second day – Saturday: Festival concert in Senica City cultural centre from 5 p. m. to 8 p. m. (common dinner, social sitting)
Third day – Šaštín – Sunday : Festival concert in Basillika from 2 p. m. to 4. p. m. (after concert choirs go back home).

Participation criteria:
Possible participants – adult choirs: male, female, mixed, chamber and capella, with musical accompaniement (e.g. piano)
Repertoir: for festival in Senica according to self choice – 15 minutes duration for festival in Šaštín according to self choice – 12 minutes duration, consisting of compositions of sacral character. At the conclusion of the festival programme in Senica, all participating choires sing together composition from Slovak composer, national artist Eugen Sucho?: „Aká si mi krásna“. (studied at their homelands). Similarly, at the conclusion of festival programme in Šaštín, common composition is sung. This will be chosen later and sent to participating choirs on time.
Applications should be sent to the festival by the end of May in the year in which the festival takes place!
